Hello!

Sorry we haven't written in a while, we have been soooo busy!
We had a great time at the lake, we went fishing, went on a cool boat. did tons of swimming and playing. Oh! and those s'mores! they are soooo yummy! we both got tummy aches from eating so many! We took lots of pictures, but sadly mamaladybug's camera fell in the water and isn't working so good right now :O(. we are hoping that the card will dry out enough for us to get our pictures off of it, but so far we haven't been able to.
Happy BunnyFeet started school and she told us all about it. She says she is going to sneak us in her backpack one day and take us to school! we can't wait - we know all the kids are going to be so nice!
Tomorrow we are going to a craft fair and then do some letterboxing - so we have to run and get our pj's on and get to bed - big day tomorrow!
we will write more soon,
Love,
Amelia & Abigail

Another amazing day!

Hello! We had so much fun today! We got to go swimming with Happy Bunnyfeet and Theaterchikita! We dove off the diving board and everything! Amelia was a little scared, but Happy Bunnyfeet held her hand they jumped off together. After swimming for a little while, we dried off and went letterboxing! We went down near the Albany International Airport to a place called Anna Lee Pond. It is in Colonie, NY right next door to the Shaker Settlement. We found 7 boxes tonight! We walked through all these trails and found the Box series called " A Bird for Every Season". It was alot of fun, but oh so buggy!
Oh, we met a new friend today! his name is Ice Bat, He is a boxing buddy that came to stay with Drama mama and Theaterchikita. We had a lot of fun running through the leaves and finding all those boxes! When it was time to go home, mamaladybug drove through the Shaker Settlement and we saw turkeys and these huge oxen out in the field - mamaladybug wanted to take our picture with them, but we were too scared to get out of the car.

Tomorrow we will be leaving on vacation, we are going with mamaladybug and Happy Bunnyfeet to The Great Sacandaga Lake where they have a camp. We will be sure to take lots of pictures!

Here is a picture from today, that's Happy Bunnyfeet on the left (in yellow) and Theaterchikita is on the right (in white) we are standing in the last box of the series!
We will check in when we come home from vacation!

Farewell to Abigail & Amelia

We had a wonderful time hosting BB Abigail and Amelia. We went on lots of trips together looking for letterboxes everywhere. Some we found and some we didn't. But we always had fun doing it and discovering new places!

We even got to go to a mini-gathering held at Salmon River State Forest in East Hampton and meet many letterboxers from CT. Abigail & Ameilia even got to meet Rubaduc & Gizz in person!!!

Sadly, the time came when Abigail and Amelia was to leave and return to Ohio. We hope they enjoy their visit with us. And hope they get to go to a lot of new places in the future.

Thanks so much for spending the Summer with us!

Hugs,
Sally-O & Happy Penguin

Penwood State Park

July 16, 2008
Dear Fellow Boxing Buddies,

Today, we went to Penwood State Park in Bloomfield, CT. We went with Sally-O, Happy Penguin,& Brawl, as well as three letterboxing friends that we made, Rose, Monalu & Mythlore.
We went looking for more of Rubaduc's boxes there. We found a total of six boxes there!

We went by Lake Louise and Shadow Pond and took a dip there to cool off. It was a beautiful day for boxing. Our favorite box that day was "Is it a Duck?" Here you see a picture of our young boxing buddies: Mythlore, Monalu, Happy Penguin & Brawl. We saw many interesting fungus. Here you see us under a giant fungus. Isn't it cool!

July 10th ~ Holcomb Farms, W. Granby, CT

We had perfect beautiful weather today for letterboxing. But luck wasn't with us, as we couldn't find
the Egg Farmer. (teehee, I wonder why we chose that box to look for?)
But we had a great time exploring the little brook. We saw a lot of little minnows that looked quite tasty.
(Close your eyes Fin & George!) But of course, we didn't catch them. We splashed around a bit, and got Happy Penguin & Sally-O all wet!!

Hey, Look at this huge mushroom we found! It's bigger than us!!
Here we are in an Indian Wigwam with Happy Penguin.
And look, we are on top of a totem pole!
At the end of the day, we took a ride on "A Farm Around A Horse". Can you see us on it's back?
What a fun day!

July 9th~ Kensington,CT

Being ducks, Abigail and Amelia loved the places we took them to today.

At Paper Goods Pond (Gee, what a name! You would think they could have picked a better name than that!), we fished for
Fin & George II. This box was done by the youngest Quackers, who was six at the time. She did a really neat job, especially after having her original box going MIA. A true letterboxer!!
Here you see Abigail and Amelia admiring the workmanship put into making this box!

Abigail & Amelia like this pond because they also got to see their cousins, the swans who live on the pond. At least that is what we think they are. They are the two white dots you see in the pond waaaaaaaaaaaaaay in the distant!
Then we went
Going on a Safari at Hungerford Park. Here we went hunting for larger game! No small fry! (No pun intended! Fin & George!)
We found a zebra, a monkey, a giraffe and a lion artfully done by Astrii. We love coloring them in with marker and stamping them in our logbooks.
Of course, we had to stop by the pond there for a swim. Isn't it beautiful?

July 7th~ Newington, CT

We love looking for Rubaduc's letterboxes. She is one of our favorite Letterboxer and she has boxes almost everywhere here in CT. Abigail & Amelia took a quick liking to her. Hmmmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with her Trail name. LOL
Here we are in Churchill Park in Newington, CT looking for
Goose Bumps. Our favorite part of the hike was this long boardwalk thru a marsh surrounded by tall rush grasses. It looked like a totally different world! Can you find Abigail and Amelia on the boardwalk. They are very tiny!

Then we went to the Newington Library where we caught the
Reading Bug! Abigail and Amelia loved the picture books at the library. They sure love to read!! Here we are stamping in the letterbox that we found cleverly hidden in a video box. What a fun hunt! We had to find all the clues and the clues later spelled out the Call Number for the video box on the shelf.

Our next stop was
Balf Park where we almost couldn't find the letterbox there. But Sally-O is a stubborn old lady and with persistence we went further down the trail and found the right spot.
This is one of Rubaduc's boxes. We couldn't figure out why we couldn't find it, as her clues are very exact. So persistence pays, or is it stubborness???

July 4th

On July 4th, we went down to Vienna, Virginia to visit Sally-O's brother and his family. While we were down there, we went to look for two boxes: Be's Search for the Mushroom Kingdom, and Ma's Artistic Box, but both were Missing in Action. We are planning on coming again next week and planting two boxes in the area.

July 3rd ~ MDC Reservoir, W. Hartford, CT

Here is Abigail & Amelia at the MDC reservoir. They love being near a body of water where they can get wet and swim. Well, they are ducks!
We went looking for a distant relative of theirs.... Blue Bird.
And along the way, we ran into Here Comes Trouble.
Then it started the rain a little...but we are not finished yet.
We go to another Reservoir. There are 5 in West Hartford. This time, we are looking to catch...
Pokemon!!
We join Ash, Brock and Misty in search of 5 pokemon. Gotta Catch Em and now they are in our logbook! We even got a bonus: Our very first badge: MDC Badge!!

Abigail & Amelia makes some new friends

Hi,
Abigail & Amelia arrived on July 2, 2008. They are our very first Boxing Buddies. And we couldn't have asked for such well behaved Buddies. We have a fondness for duckies, as we used to have 3 ducks. But sadly, something came in the night and killed them. We never found who had done it.
We think it could have been a fox. So we are excited to have Abigail and Amelia with us. Don't worry! We won't let the fox get you!

---Sally-O

Here is a picture of Happy Penguin writing in their journal when they first arrived. We had just come home from a letterboxing trip to find them waiting at our front door!

Abigail & Amelia makes some new friends!

Sunny was happy to meet some fellow birds.
He sang a song for them!

Lucy enjoyed having Abigail & Amelia visit her home.
So nice to have some friends as tiny as she!
