July 10th ~ Holcomb Farms, W. Granby, CT

We had perfect beautiful weather today for letterboxing. But luck wasn't with us, as we couldn't find
the Egg Farmer. (teehee, I wonder why we chose that box to look for?)
But we had a great time exploring the little brook. We saw a lot of little minnows that looked quite tasty.
(Close your eyes Fin & George!) But of course, we didn't catch them. We splashed around a bit, and got Happy Penguin & Sally-O all wet!!

Hey, Look at this huge mushroom we found! It's bigger than us!!
Here we are in an Indian Wigwam with Happy Penguin.
And look, we are on top of a totem pole!
At the end of the day, we took a ride on "A Farm Around A Horse". Can you see us on it's back?
What a fun day!

July 9th~ Kensington,CT

Being ducks, Abigail and Amelia loved the places we took them to today.

At Paper Goods Pond (Gee, what a name! You would think they could have picked a better name than that!), we fished for
Fin & George II. This box was done by the youngest Quackers, who was six at the time. She did a really neat job, especially after having her original box going MIA. A true letterboxer!!
Here you see Abigail and Amelia admiring the workmanship put into making this box!

Abigail & Amelia like this pond because they also got to see their cousins, the swans who live on the pond. At least that is what we think they are. They are the two white dots you see in the pond waaaaaaaaaaaaaay in the distant!
Then we went
Going on a Safari at Hungerford Park. Here we went hunting for larger game! No small fry! (No pun intended! Fin & George!)
We found a zebra, a monkey, a giraffe and a lion artfully done by Astrii. We love coloring them in with marker and stamping them in our logbooks.
Of course, we had to stop by the pond there for a swim. Isn't it beautiful?

July 7th~ Newington, CT

We love looking for Rubaduc's letterboxes. She is one of our favorite Letterboxer and she has boxes almost everywhere here in CT. Abigail & Amelia took a quick liking to her. Hmmmm, I wonder if it has anything to do with her Trail name. LOL
Here we are in Churchill Park in Newington, CT looking for
Goose Bumps. Our favorite part of the hike was this long boardwalk thru a marsh surrounded by tall rush grasses. It looked like a totally different world! Can you find Abigail and Amelia on the boardwalk. They are very tiny!

Then we went to the Newington Library where we caught the
Reading Bug! Abigail and Amelia loved the picture books at the library. They sure love to read!! Here we are stamping in the letterbox that we found cleverly hidden in a video box. What a fun hunt! We had to find all the clues and the clues later spelled out the Call Number for the video box on the shelf.

Our next stop was
Balf Park where we almost couldn't find the letterbox there. But Sally-O is a stubborn old lady and with persistence we went further down the trail and found the right spot.
This is one of Rubaduc's boxes. We couldn't figure out why we couldn't find it, as her clues are very exact. So persistence pays, or is it stubborness???

July 4th

On July 4th, we went down to Vienna, Virginia to visit Sally-O's brother and his family. While we were down there, we went to look for two boxes: Be's Search for the Mushroom Kingdom, and Ma's Artistic Box, but both were Missing in Action. We are planning on coming again next week and planting two boxes in the area.

July 3rd ~ MDC Reservoir, W. Hartford, CT

Here is Abigail & Amelia at the MDC reservoir. They love being near a body of water where they can get wet and swim. Well, they are ducks!
We went looking for a distant relative of theirs.... Blue Bird.
And along the way, we ran into Here Comes Trouble.
Then it started the rain a little...but we are not finished yet.
We go to another Reservoir. There are 5 in West Hartford. This time, we are looking to catch...
Pokemon!!
We join Ash, Brock and Misty in search of 5 pokemon. Gotta Catch Em and now they are in our logbook! We even got a bonus: Our very first badge: MDC Badge!!

Abigail & Amelia makes some new friends

Hi,
Abigail & Amelia arrived on July 2, 2008. They are our very first Boxing Buddies. And we couldn't have asked for such well behaved Buddies. We have a fondness for duckies, as we used to have 3 ducks. But sadly, something came in the night and killed them. We never found who had done it.
We think it could have been a fox. So we are excited to have Abigail and Amelia with us. Don't worry! We won't let the fox get you!

---Sally-O

Here is a picture of Happy Penguin writing in their journal when they first arrived. We had just come home from a letterboxing trip to find them waiting at our front door!

Abigail & Amelia makes some new friends!

Sunny was happy to meet some fellow birds.
He sang a song for them!

Lucy enjoyed having Abigail & Amelia visit her home.
So nice to have some friends as tiny as she!
